DETECTION OF HARMFUL MICRO-ORGANISMS USING PCR-TECHNOLOGY

The detection and identification of harmful micro-organisms in beverages has traditionally relied on a time-consuming process such as cultural, selective enrichment. Only 5-7 days after the enrichment a visible turbidity of the sample demonstrated the existence of beverage vermin, often too late to take countermeasures in time.

Our modified PCR detection method gives the beverage industry the ability to detect harmful contamination at any critical point in the production process within a few hours.
